BRAND IDENTITY SYSTEM + GUIDELINES
CHALLENGE / MISSION
Twenty years ago Mammoth Mountain pioneered the modern snowboard terrain park in the form of “Unbound.” Today the Unbound Terrain Park still embodies the youthful and rebellious attitude of progressive park riding. Much like the North Shore is to surfers, Unbound breeds and maintains the culture of the West Coast snowboarding scene. Refresh the Unbound identity and messaging, bringing it back to prominance in the core-snowboard scene on par with competitor parks across the country.
SOLUTION
Developed a scalable identity system and asscoiated tools which embody the culture and story of the Unbound terrain parks, while maintaining scalability for placement across the resort landscape. By understanding the counter-culture of core-snowboarding as a whole, and specifically distilling the Mammoth Mountain microcosom, we built a landmark identity which was welcomed by the community, elevating the history and progressing Unbound forward for future generations of riders.

THE BRAND IDENTITY FAMILY
Inspired by 1980’s skate culture with a tough and clever appearance, the UNBOUND mark is a prominent symbol on the mountain. This mark lives in many spaces and applications, careful considerations were taken to facilitate it’s versatility.
The UNBOUND identity system is a symbol of the creativity, fun, and progression it's riders find in the terrain-parks season after season. It represents Mammoth Mountain at its core.

This is a feeling, not just a place. This is the landscape that defined the landscape. It’s a story of firsts, a story of best evers, a story of us. This is more Mammoth than Mammoth. This is our time, our mountain, our way. This is freedom to define the line, to explore our vision for what’s next. This is Unforgettable. This is Undeniable. This is Unscripted. This is UNBOUND.

Unbound Terrain Parks have led the industry in innovation, quality and design for over 20 years. With 10 unique parks, 2 half pipes, 100+ jibs and up to 50 jumps on any given day covering over 100 acres of terrain, Unbound is a mecca for fun and progression.

Riding the Mammoth Unbound Parks were an integral part in our upbringing. To say this project was an honor to work on is an understatement. We are truly grateful to work with such a wonderful team, and for an awesome opportunity to give back to one of the communities which shaped my perspective and culture.
